Hey everyone, I wanted to start my first blog post off with something I really enjoy and that’s being a part of the Writing Community!
I didn’t discover the universal “Writing Community” until I made an author twitter two years ago, and I’m so glad I did. After snooping around the #WritingCommunity hashtag I discovered a lot of like minded people who are out there sharing their writing/author/publishing journeys. I’ve learned so much from the other authors online. People just starting out putting pen to paper and people who have multiple books published each have their own experiences and knowledge to share with others and everyone does it in a friendly positive way.
Before joining the Writing Community I knew nothing about the publishing process. I didn’t even know there was a difference between indie and traditional publishing and each had there own steps to follow. I learned what WIP, MC, MS, and ARC all mean (WIP =work in progress, MC=main character, MS=manuscript, and ARC=Advanced readers copy). I discovered pitchwars and pitmad. I learned that November is both a stressful but fun time for writers (NaNoWrimo). I learned a lot of other things and met some great people!
My favorite part of the Writing Community is everyone is constantly trying to support each other whether if it’s with a positive word, a follow friday, or buying a book.
If you’re an author or think you may want to become an author and you haven’t joined the #writingcommunity on twitter I highly suggest doing so asap!
Give me a follow @HLSwritings and I can recommend some great authors to follow!
